The Introduction Of Shafting
Shafting is a crucial power transmission element as they transmit motive power within a machine or system. They are long pieces of metal that are formed to a specific diameter. Our shafting is available in several standard materials such as C1045, C1018, 303-stainless, 304-stainless, 316-stainless, and 1060 steel For linear shafting.
Stainless Steel Shaft Properties
303-grade stainless steel is used because it is non-magnetic, austenitic stainless steel that is not hard-enable by heat treatment. It also exhibits improved machinability while maintaining good mechanical and corrosion resistance due to the presence of sulfur in the steel composition. However 303s corrosion resistance is slightly lower than 304-grade stainless steel. We can supply 304, 316, 4103, and other grades of stainless steel shafts for specialty applications that require a different material.
