Briefing

WD110 welded steel drag chain from ISO 9001-certified manufacturer CTS: 152.4 mm pitch, 170 kN tensile strength, OEM length & attachments.

Detailed

WD110 Welded Steel Drag Chain Overview

What it is, how it works, and where it is used.

The WD110 welded steel drag chain is a rollerless engineering chain designed to convey bulk materials – sawdust, wood chips, bark, ash, ore, grain and scrap – through trough conveyors and scraper systems. Unlike roller chain, it has no rollers: the sleeves welded to the offset link plates do the work.

Each link is an all-welded assembly of side plates, pins and bushes. The outer circular surface of each sleeve engages the sprocket teeth, while its flat, non-circular sides face the running direction to push or scrape material. This dual function gives drag chains their characteristic combination of drive efficiency and material-moving ability.

The WD110 is the medium-duty workhorse of the WD series (WD102–WD480), balancing a 152.4 mm pitch with a wide 228.6 mm material face and a robust 170 kN minimum tensile strength. It is a standard, interchangeable chain number used across the industry and available ex-stock.

Typical WD110 applications include wood processing plants, pulp and paper mills, mines, grain terminals, cement and asphalt plants, and municipal waste handling.

Key Features & Benefits

Engineered for harsh conveying environments.

High Tensile Strength
WD110 Chain has 170 kN minimum breaking load (pin hardened) with stress-optimised link geometry for dependable heavy-duty service.
Heat & Wear Resistant
Quenched and tempered pins, plates and bushes deliver a hard-wearing surface with a tough, shock-resistant core.
Welded One-piece Links
Automated precision welding joins every component into a solid link – no loose pins, no premature elongation.
Bulk Material Moving
Flat sleeve faces push and scrape sawdust, chips, ash, and aggregate along the trough with every pass.
Interchangeable Standard
Manufactured to ISO 6971 / ANSI B29.18M – a direct drop-in replacement for standard WD110 chains.
Custom Options
Custom lengths, attachments (C1/C3/C4/RR/wing), WDH full heat treatment, stainless steel and surface coatings.

Manufacturing Process & Quality Control

Step1: Material Selection
High-quality medium-carbon and low-carbon alloy steels are selected and verified by incoming material inspection for strength and toughness.
Step2: Precision Welding
Dedicated automatic welding equipment joins side plates, pins and bushes into one-piece links, with weld quality controlled to prevent defects.

Step3: Heat Treatment
Pins, plates and bushes are quenched and tempered in atmosphere-controlled furnaces for optimal hardness, strength and wear life.

Step4: Preload & Testing
Chains are shot-peened, pre-stretched to 30–50% of breaking load, then 100% dimension-checked and tensile-tested before packing.
