About U0 Split Taper Bushing

CTS® U0 Split Bushing

When a machine has a large shaft but limited installation space, the U0 split taper bushing provides a compact solution. It is designed for shafts up to 5-1/2" while using the shortest body in the U series. This makes it suitable for applications where space is limited, such as between bearings, inside guards, or behind couplings.

The U0, U1, and U2 share the same 6" outside diameter and 7" bolt circle, so the same hub can be used with different bushing lengths. Choose U0 when installation space is limited, U2 when maximum shaft engagement is needed, or U1 for a balance between the two.

Standard Browning-style profile: direct interchange with Browning U0 and Martin U0. Selection numbers: bore 3-1/4" to 5-1/2", torque 1,680 in-lbs; full dimensions in the technical table above.

What is the difference between the U0, U1, and U2 split taper bushings?

Same 6" OD, 7" bolt circle, and 1,680 in-lbs clamp. U0 is the shortest (≈ 4-15/16" long) with stock bores to 5-1/2"; U1 is mid-length; U2 is the longest with the deepest engagement (bores to 5"). Choose the shortest size that fits the envelope and the load.

What bore sizes can the U0 be supplied with?

Stock bores are 3-1/4" to 4-1/4" (Type 1) and 4-3/8" to 5-1/2" (Type 2). Custom bores, keyways and set-screw holes can be machined to order.
